BBQ meatballs just hit Charlotte — they’re rich and deliciously addicting.

Midwood Smokehouse, recently voted the #1 barbecue spot in Charlotte by the Agenda’s 40,000 newsletter subscribers, just added “Smoked Meatballs” to their menu.

Smoked Meatballs: 3 USDA prime brisket meatballs topped with smoked jalapeño BBQ sauce and mixed melted cheese, garnished with green onion ($8).

The idea came from Midwood’s pit master and N.C. native Matt Barry.

“We are always trying to learn from BBQ traditions and Matt wanted to experiment with BBQ meatballs in the vein of BBQ spaghetti from Memphis,” said Midwood Smokehouse owner Frank Scibelli.

Additionally, Midwood added three new, huuuge sandwiches to the menu.

Fat Matt Sandwich: Serious portion of tender smoked USDA prime sliced brisket, apple-jalapeño slaw and Midwood sauce on a brioche bun ($13).

Pollo Texano Fried Chicken Sandwich: Tossed in honey chipotle glaze, apple-jalapeño slaw, angry pickles on a brioche bun ($11)

Appalachian Yard Bird Fried Chicken Sandwich: Topped with creamy pimento cheese, angry pickles on a brioche bun ($11)

If I had to rank the new sandwiches, I’d go: #1 Fat Matt, #2 Pollo Texano Fried Chicken Sandwich and #3 Appalachian Yard Bird Fried Chicken Sandwich.
